Traveled the scenic highway for a good part of the day, but go off to get to Oklahoma City faster. The day started off with rain, thunderstorms, rain and then eventually dark clouds and then sunshine. But before we go on the road I had to fix three problems: 1. HUNGRY and Holiday Inn did not have decent food, so we went to a place called Ziggy's down the street. Great Food and nice wait staff.
2. SD CARD problems, apparently my SD card died, so off to Walmart to buy a new card, it was right across the street form Ziggy's.
3. LOST LENS CAPS: if you are ever in Springfield MO and need camera items, go to Bedford Camera off Campbell Street. Real cameras and supplies, plus very helpful people, who showed me a feature I did not know I had on my camera.
Finally on the road, Springfield is the birthplace the Mother Road
Also, the first fast food place, no longer in existence except for it's sign:
The story goes that Red wanted to create a sign that stood tall so that everyone would see it above other signs, he had the A's intersect but this made the sign too tall so the word Hamburgers got trimmed so now it reads Giant Hamburg.
Out of Springfield and onto what is suppose to be the largest antique store in Halltown, but we could not find it. Lovely pictures on Route 66.
I have more posts on this journey but internet too slow, so hopefully next stop I can download faster.
